Thanks for considerating a Lucky Cat Kitty!

Hi all: My name is Andy and I love this house living, me and my sisters were living somewhere, I don't know where, we were babies and our kitty mom died, please don't tell anybody I know that they didn't want us to be upset so they kept it hush hush. A nice lady put us in a cage but she was very old and couldn't touch us much. She did talk to us and stuff but now two of my sisters are just afraid to let anyone touch them. Anyway another lady took us but she moved and then Mr. David heard about us and now all four of us are here in Lucky Cat foster care. I am looking for a wonderful home with a family who will pet me all the time, I really like it and you must have toys I like them to. As you can see I am a very pretty boy. I have not been around children so I don't know if I like them or not, sorry bout that. I know Mr. David says I like to make my own commotion. Now I do get lonely and I do well with the other cats in foster care so I'm thinking if you don't have another kitty could you maybe take one of my sisters too? You don't have to worry about petting them cause I want ALL the petting I can get, if you did though then I would have a playmate while you're gone.
Thank you very much. Oh, did I say please, mom says you must remember your manners. Also have you noticed how personable I am? Please click on the link and complete the application right away. I am waiting just for you! My sisters names are Trae, Bashful and Maxine.

GUATEMALA CITY (AP) ? Software company founder John McAfee was hospitalized briefly Thursday after being denied political asylum in Guatemala, and his lawyers said they were making a last-ditch effort to keep him from being flown back to Belize for questioning about the killing of a fellow American expatriate.

McAfee told The Associated Press that he suffered chest pains overnight but didn't believe he had a heart attack. A government doctor who examined him agreed, saying that McAfee's heart rhythm and blood pressure were normal and that he appeared to be suffering from high stress.

McAfee was moved from an immigration center to a police-run hospital Thursday afternoon after Guatemalan authorities said McAfee's request for asylum had been denied. They did not explain why.

He was released from the hospital and taken back to the detention center Thursday night.

Shortly after the decision to deny him asylum was announced, McAfee issued a plea on his blog for the public to petition Guatemalan President Otto Perez Molina to let him stay.

"Please email the President of Guatemala and beg him to allow the court system to proceed, to determine my status in Guatemala, and please support the political asylum that I am asking for," the post read.

McAfee's legal team said they were preparing to appeal the denial of asylum to the country's constitutional court, a process that could give McAfee perhaps another day or two in Guatemala. The court would have to issue a decision within 48 hours.

McAfee's complaints of chest pain prompted authorities to move him from the immigration center where he had been held overnight. He had been taken to the center after his arrest for illegally entering the country after a bizarre weekslong journey as a self-styled fugitive with an active blog and constant contact with the press.

During an exclusive interview with the AP Thursday morning from inside his private room at the center, McAfee said he was refusing to travel to a hospital because he had been using Chinese herbal medicine since suffering a heart attack in 1993.

"Last night I had a little bit of pain, but I am fine this morning," he said. "I don't like Western medicine ... if the people around me are kind and compassionate, that's all that matters in life. The people of Guatemala are very kind people, so I have no complaints."

A couple of hours later, an AP reporter returned to McAfee's room and found him changed into a suit but lying on the floor as he was examined by a doctor. Shortly after, he was taken to the police hospital.

Belizean police spokesman Raphael Martinez said officials expected McAfee to be flown back to his country's capital. Police want to question him about the fatal shooting of Gregory Viant Faull, who was shot to death in early November on the Belize island where both men lived.

There is no warrant for McAfee's arrest, so it is possible his self-initiated flight from Belizean authority could end up with him free to roam the Caribbean island where he lived for years, often clashing with neighbors and authorities over allegations he kept aggressive dogs, weapons and drug paraphernalia on his property.

The Faull family has said through a representative that the murder of their loved one on Ambergris Caye has gotten lost in the media frenzy provoked by McAfee's manipulation of the media through phone calls, emails and blog posts detailing his life on the lam.

McAfee updated his blog Thursday after being given a computer by the warden at the immigration center in Guatemala City, a three-story building with mesh-covered windows and barbed-wire on the roof.

McAfee said U.S. Embassy officials had said they couldn't help him with a request to be returned to the United States instead of Belize. McAfee said he had formally requested asylum in Guatemala because he fears for his safety in Belize because he has sensitive information about official corruption and refused to donate to local politicians.

His Guatemalan lawyer, Telesforo Guerra, warned Wednesday night that the 67-yeard-old McAfee's life would be in danger if he is sent back to Belize.

"He will be in danger if he is returned to Belize, where he has denounced authorities," Guerra said. "From the moment he asked for asylum he has to have the protection of the Guatemalan government."

Police in Belize deny they are persecuting McAfee and say there is no warrant for his arrest. The country's prime minister has questioned McAfee's mental state.

McAfee went on the run last month after officials tried to question him about the killing of Faull, who was shot to death in early November.

McAfee acknowledges that his dogs were bothersome and that Faull had complained about them, but denies killing Faull. Faull's home was a couple of houses down from McAfee's compound.

McAfee, the creator of the McAfee antivirus program, has led an eccentric life since he sold his stake in the anti-virus software company that is named after him in the early 1990s and moved to Belize about three years ago to lower his taxes.

He told The New York Times in 2009 that he had lost all but $4 million of his $100 million fortune in the U.S. financial crisis. However, a story on the Gizmodo website quoted him as calling that claim "not very accurate at all." He has dabbled in yoga, ultra-light aircraft and producing herbal medications.

NHL owners, players meet late into the night again

(AP) ? NHL labor talks that began during the day Wednesday stretched to nearly nine hours, and both sides planned to meet again later Thursday.

It isn't known what progress ? if any ? was made during the second straight day of marathon talks in the dispute that is threatening the entire hockey season, but owners and players surely sense that time is now a factor and a deal must be made soon to get the game back on the ice.

"We had good, candid dialogue," NHL deputy commissioner Bill Daly said early Thursday morning. "There continue to be some critical open issues between the two parties, and we understand the union should be getting back to us (Thursday) on some of those issues."

The players' association is expected to have internal discussions Thursday morning before meeting with the NHL.

"We had a series of candid discussions tonight. We will meet again tomorrow," said Winnipeg Jets defenseman Ron Hainsey, who like Daly didn't take any questions after the talks ended for the night.

Negotiations resumed Wednesday and stretched deep into the night again, this time in fits and starts, as the league and the players' association searched for an agreement. The sides began talks a little after 2 p.m. and kept going through the night, except for a two-hour dinner break.

Talks on Tuesday lasted about eight hours and wrapped up at midnight, with the promise that negotiations would continue Wednesday.

Very little information leaked out of the meeting room, but it is believed that each side submitted proposals to the other and spent lots of time apart discussing what was offered. One point of contention is the length of the new contract, with owners looking for a 10-year pact, and players wanting a shorter term.

Owners often retreated to their room one floor above the location of the bargaining session and then took the elevator back down to get talks going again. Some of the joint sessions lasted as few as 15 minutes.

Cautious optimism emerged Tuesday in the first round of talks that kept NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman on the outside along with union executive director Donald Fehr, while six owners and about 18 players talked inside. The good feeling carried over into Wednesday morning when various team executives said they heard good reports during an NHL board of governors meeting.

Bettman spoke briefly after that, just before negotiations started again, and the sides remained silent the rest of the talks while discussions were ongoing. The reemergence of a podium with a lectern featuring the NHL shield in a media workroom sparked some hope that some sort of announcement would soon be coming. It remained unoccupied for quite some time, however it gained instant popularity on Twitter.

Bettman declined to take any questions earlier Wednesday when he stood at that podium in a Manhattan hotel. A ray of hope that a season-saving deal could be made emerged late Tuesday night after about eight hours of bargaining.

"We are pleased with the process that is ongoing, and out of respect for that process I don't have anything else to say," Bettman said.

Executives scurried on New York streets and hopped into cars after the two-hour board of governors meeting, some offering an opinion on the proceedings.

"We feel good about the information we got," new Columbus Blue Jackets President John Davidson said.

Larry Tanenbaum of the Toronto Maple Leafs, one of the six owners participating in these negotiations, also painted an optimistic picture as he walked the few blocks back to the hotel hosting the meetings.

"We're going to continue to talk up until we get a deal," said Tanenbaum, who added there is more clarity on both sides where each group stands. "All I can say is as long as we're talking we're hopeful."

If a breakthrough can be made soon, the delayed and shortened hockey season could get going quickly.

"I've always been hopeful there would be a season," said Lou Lamoriello, the New Jersey Devils president and general manager. "Right now we just have to leave it in the hands of the people that are talking."

The same negotiators participated in talks Wednesday, with minor tweaks to the large contingent of players.

Bargaining stretched Tuesday night until about midnight, and it was clear progress was made when Daly stood side by side with union special counsel Steve Fehr and issued a rare joint status report. Negotiations took place in a pair of sessions that included groups of various sizes.

The sides are trying to avoid another lost season. The NHL became the first North American professional sports league to cancel a full year because of a labor dispute back in 2005. The deal reached then was in place until this September, and the lockout was enacted on Sept. 16 after that agreement expired.

The lockout reached its 81st day Wednesday. The main issues are how to split revenue and issues surrounding how player contracts are set up. The league had more than $3 billion in the 2011-12 season, but an analysis by Forbes magazine recently showed a major gap between profitable teams and those that operate in the red.

"We had a long day," Steve Fehr said Tuesday. "We thought it was a constructive day. We had a good dialogue. In some ways I'd say it might be the best day we've had, which isn't too overly optimistic of a picture. There is still a lot of work to do and a lot to be done."

Daly echoed Fehr's comments, and spoke well of the talks.

"I appreciate the efforts of the players," Daly said. "Everybody is working hard. I think everybody wants to get a deal done, so that's encouraging. We look forward to hopefully making more progress."

That was the extent of the details revealed by the two sides, which could be another good sign that neither group wanted to say anything that could throw the discussions off the rails.

All games through Dec. 14, along with the New Year's Day Winter Classic and the All-Star game, have been wiped off the schedule.

At last: T-Mobile getting 'Apple products' in 2013

1 hr.

T-Mobile parent?Deutsche Telekom?has announced that the U.S. carrier would have "additions to its rate plan and product portfolio, including Apple products" in 2013.

This most likely?means that finally, more than five years after it was released, the iPhone will hit T-Mobile, the last major carrier in the U.S. to get Apple's popular phone.

An agreement between the two companies calls for the iPhone to start being offered in 2013. Apple's iPad will also be sold by T-Mobile.

A T-Mobile spokesperson confirmed the statement with NBC News, but would not elaborate on what specific products were coming:

T-Mobile has entered into an agreement with Apple to bring products to market together next year. Additional details will be made available at a later date.

It is not known whether an iPad will also?be among the products coming to T-Mobile. Launching both the iPhone and iPad may be contingent on the roll-out of T-Mobile's 4G LTE network ? a high-speed technology used by Apple products on competing U.S. carriers. Deutsche Telekom?said that, for 2013, "The focus in the U.S. is on building out the LTE network."

The addition of the iPhone could help T-Mobile, which has been battered by a failed merger attempt with AT&T and sagging subscriber numbers. Verizon Wireless, AT&T and Sprint?all offer the iPhone.

Using an unlocked?iPhone on T-Mobile's network has been possible for years, though not always with the speeds guaranteed by other carriers.?In fact, the company has said it has?more than a million iPhones on its network. T-Mobile has advertised to AT&T iPhone owners who are off their contracts that they can switch to T-Mobile, which uses?much of the same network protocols?as AT&T.

These robots can fly forever ... as long as you don't unplug 'em

3 hrs.

Little flying robots can walk your kids to the bus, keep you company on a jog, spy on the neighbors?and find earthquake survivors. But they work only as long as their batteries do, which typically isn?t longer than an hour, if that.

Robots unveiled this week from CyPhy Works get around this problem with a "?fishing-line thin"?wire called a microfilament that powers the robots from the ground,?using?a large battery?or the electric grid. It also provides secure wired?communications and control of the robots, preventing interception or jams by hackers that can occur with radio communications.

CyPhy Works, a firm?created by iRobot co-founder Helen Greiner, unveiled two models: the Extreme Access System for Entry (EASE) and the Persistent Aerial Reconnaissance and Communications (PARC). Both have high-definition cameras and serve as eyes-in-the sky for a range of surveillance tasks.

The EASE is the smaller of the two ? portable in a backpack and powered from?its ground control system?by a hot-swappable battery. This little fan-powered vertical-take-off-and-landing craft?is the type of thing search and rescue crews could carry to an earthquake zone to search for survivors, or military units could use in the field to peek across enemy lines. It is "able to fly through doors and windows," says CyPhy.

PARC is a more familiar quadrotor design, intended for more long-term surveillance and communication tasks from a singular location. Its filament is connected to the electric grid.

The magic in both, the company says, is the microfilament itself, which uses patented technology to cram so much information and juice into such a thin wire. Another key here is that the wire is coiled inside of the robot, not the ground control system. "Spooling out from the air vehicle means that the air vehicle's movement is never restricted by the microfilament and it eliminates the possibility of snagging, binding, or otherwise tangling," according to CyPhy.

If something does happen to that lifeline, both flying robots can land safely ??and autonomously ?thanks to their small onboard back-up?batteries.

You can check out the EASE in action in the video below as it flies around an old fort, perhaps the setting for a post-apocalypse Western.

Demjanjuk's family asks for probe to be reopened

BERLIN (AP) ? The family of John Demjanjuk has appealed a prosecutor's decision to shelve an investigation into his death while awaiting an appeal on a Nazi war crimes conviction.

Bavarian prosecutors last week closed the investigation into whether pain medication given to Demjanjuk exacerbated his kidney problems, saying no evidence was found of medical errors.

But in the appeal filed Tuesday, Demjanjuk's attorney says the decision contradicts "all medical knowledge" about the drug Novalgin, which is commonly used in Germany but has been banned in the U.S. and elsewhere over safety concerns.

Demjanjuk's family is asking that charges be brought against five doctors and a nurse.

Demjanjuk was convicted in 2011 of serving as a death camp guard, which he always denied. He died in March at 91 while awaiting an appeal.
