Exploring Health and Fitness Personal Training Courses Health Club

If you are looking to enter the world of fitness training as a business then you need to realize that there is a big difference between simply going to the gym every day, and becoming a trainer at a gym.

Fitness Personal Training Courses

In order to become an instructor you need not only to be fit yourself (because the clients will not want to train to get fit with someone who clearly isn?t), but you also need to tap into some essential business skills in order to ensure that the business side runs smoothly and you have a nice steady flow of new clients, in order to keep the money rolling in.

Now, in truth, you could learn these skills yourself without any help. Plenty of people have in the past. But doing things the old-fashioned way does have its drawbacks, not least of which is that you will have to spend a lot of extra time in a trial and error process of learning both what to do, and what not to do.

There is however a quicker way, and that is to look into taking some HFE personal training courses, which can dramatically reduce the learning curve and ensure that you start out at the very top with your Health And Fitness Education.

There are various types of course that are on offer, and they cover the whole range of options that are on offer if you choose to enter the health and fitness industry.

The good news is that there are far more options than you may at first realise, from working in a fitness club as a trainer, to becoming a personal coach, or managing a team of other instructors. There is far more variety then you may realise, and so your options really are very wide as to the kind of career that you can eventually pursue.

There are a number of different factors that will be covered that you may not even have previously given much thought too. Such as for example the health profile of your prospective customers, whether or not they are currently carrying any niggling injuries and if it is safe for them to train.

When you are a professional instructor it is important that you realise that your customers expect higher standards from you then they would if you were simply a friend, or training buddy. They expect to receive care and attention, but they also need you to provide them with knowledge and insights that they can only get if they pay for the privilege!

At the end of the day if you want to work in the industry for the long haul then getting a firm foundation with a personal training course like this can certainly be a good investment in yourself, your knowledge and give you new ways to help your clients.

Belcher Didn't Have 'Long Concussion History,' Team Says

The death of Kansas City Chiefs linebacker Jovan Belcher, the latest in a string of tragic NFL suicides, has left the player's teammates, coaches, family and friends wondering what could have led a man described as generous and caring to murder his girlfriend -- the mother of his 3-month-old daughter -- and then kill himself.

Kansas City police say Belcher, 25, shot and killed his girlfriend Saturday morning before going to the team stadium and and committing suicide by shooting himself in the head as he was talking to coaches.

"When the officers arrived, when they were pulling up, they actually observed a black male who had a gun to his head and he was talking to a couple of coaches out in the parking lot," Kansas City Police spokesman Darin Snapp told ABC News Radio. "As officers pulled up, and began to park, that's when they heard the gunshot and it appears the individual took his own life."

It's not yet clear what prompted Belcher's actions, but his suicide follows those of former NFL players Junior Seau, 43, and Dave Duerson, 50, both of whom died of self-inflicted gunshot wounds to the chest in the last two years.

The suicides of Seau, Duerson and a number of other NFL players have been blamed on concussions racked up from playing the violent sport, and a condition called chronic traumatic encephalopathy, or CTE, but that may not be the case for Belcher.

Kansas City Chiefs Player Jovan Belcher's Murder-Suicide Watch Video Did Brain Injury Lead to NFL Star's Suicide? Watch Video

Chiefs chairman Clark Hunt said today that Belcher was "a player who had not had a long concussion history," even though he was a three-time all-America wrestler and a star on the football team at his West Babylon, N.Y., high school.

Seau's and Duerson's brains are both being studied at Boston University's Center for the Study of Traumatic Encephalopathy, where researchers have already learned that Duerson had CTE, which may have led to his suicide.

CTE is a progressive, degenerative disease found in people who have had brain trauma from repeated blows to the head, according to the Center. It includes brain tissue degeneration and a buildup of an abnormal protein called tao, resulting in symptoms including confusion, aggression, and depression. Ultimately, CTE results in dementia.

In 2006, former Pittsburgh Steelers player Terry Long killed himself by drinking antifreeze, and former Philadelphia Eagles player Andre Waters shot himself in the head. Both of them suffered from CTE.

Researchers at Boston University found evidence of CTE in 12 of the 13 professional football players' brains they received between 2008 and 2010, according to the university. CTE can also be found in hockey players, wrestlers, and boxers.

"Football is entertainment in which the audience is expected to delight in gladiatorial action that a growing portion of the audience knows may cause the players degenerative brain disease," ABC News' George Will wrote in a Washington Post column published Aug. 3 just before he appeared on "This Week with George Stephanopoulos."

Will cited Seau and Duerson in his column, both of whom committed suicide after 2010, adding that 62-year-old former NFL safety Ray Easterling committed suicide in April 2012. Esterling's autopsy revealed that he had dementia and depression brought on by CTE.

Obama to take Twitter questions on fiscal cliff at 2 p.m. ET

DEAR ABBY: I'm married to the girl of my dreams. She's the best thing that's ever happened to me. We both work in the medical field. She's an emergency room nurse, and I'm a paramedic/firefighter.For several years my wife worked the day shift at a hospital more than an hour away from home. I tried to convince her to find a job closer, so we could see each other more. Finally, she told me she had been offered a night shift position at the hospital here in town. She promised to switch to a day shift if one opened up. I thought that was great. ...

South Sudan says holds successful talks with Sudan on border dispute

KHARTOUM (Reuters) - South Sudan's chief negotiator said on Sunday he had held successful meetings with Sudan's defense minister and other officials, in an attempt to resolve a border security dispute and restart southern oil exports, but gave no further details.

The two former civil war foes agreed at talks in Ethiopia in September to end hostilities and restart oil exports - including creating a demilitarized border zone - after coming close to war in April.

But the neighbors have been unable to agree how to withdraw their armies from the disputed border, a step both had said was necessary to resume oil exports from landlocked South Sudan through Sudanese pipelines.

On Sunday, South Sudan's chief negotiator Pagan Amum said he had met with Sudan's Defence Minister Abdel Raheem Mohammed Hussein as well as senior official Nafie Ali Nafie and others.

"The meetings were successful and we will continue to hold meetings," he Amum told reporters in Khartoum, without elaborating.

South Sudan seceded from Sudan last year after decades of civil war but unresolved issues have continued to fuel conflict.

South Sudan, which inherited three-quarters of oil production when it broke away, shut down its output of 350,000 barrels a day in January after tensions over pipeline fees escalated.

The new border tensions in the past two weeks have delayed a restart in production, originally scheduled for November 15, a serious blow to both crumbling economies.

Protests flare in Bahrain for Kim Kardashian visit

MANAMA, Bahrain (AP) ? Just hours after reality TV star Kim Kardashian gushed about her impressions of Bahrain, riot police fired tear gas to disperse more than 50 hardline Islamic protesters denouncing her presence in the Gulf kingdom.

The clashes took place just before Kardashian opened the Bahrain branch of her Millions of Milkshakes shop.

An Associated Press journalist saw protesters chanting "God is Great" near the shopping complex in Riffa, about 20 kilometers (12 miles) south of the capital Manama. The demonstrators were cleared before Kardashian appeared late Saturday.

Earlier, she posted glowing remarks about Bahrain on her Twitter account, calling it "the prettiest place on earth." It was re-Tweeted by Bahrain's foreign minister.

Kardashian was in Kuwait earlier this week to open another branch of the shop.

Israelis question too, 'Who wants this war?'

Residents of southern Israel only reluctantly express support for a potential expansion of the conflict in Gaza and express sympathy for the suffering on the other side of the border.

Ashdod and Kiryat Malachi, Israel

Just days after Adi Pito married a woman from the town of Kiryat Malachi, he heard that a rocket from Gaza had struck an apartment building there, killing three residents.

?I was worried about my wife,? says Mr. Pito, who was in a nearby city at the time. ?If you ask me, I think we have to destroy Gaza. I think they are animals, not people,? he says, pulling at his new wedding ring as he stood outside the damaged apartment yesterday. ?It?s the right thing to do.?

But in towns across southern Israel that have been hit by rockets, other residents only reluctantly express support for a potential expansion of Israel?s Pillar of Defense operation and express sympathy for the suffering on the other side of the border, where at least 53 Palestinians have been killed and hundreds injured since the operation began five days ago.

?When people say, ?Let?s kill them,? I don?t think they really mean to do it,? says Yehudit Bar Hay, a trauma expert at the Israel Center for Victims of Terror and War, known as NATAL. ?It is an angry feeling but ? we don?t want to kill the people of Gaza. We see the mothers and the children, we are sorry for them.?

Even those who are ?very, very injured? from the trauma of living under rocket fire say they don?t want to hurt anybody, adds Ms. Bar Hay, who lives less than a mile from the Gaza border.?

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said today that Israel?s military ?is prepared for a significant expansion of its operations,? even as at least 16,000 reservists have been called up for a potential ground invasion. The Defense Ministry has authorized the calling up of as many as 75,000 reservists ? more than six times as many as participated in the 2008-09 Gaza war.

But while some Israelis say war is necessary or inevitable, few are happy about it.?

?Who wants this war? Nobody in Israel,? says Ashdod resident Bebert Avitan, his pink-rimmed glasses hanging from his neck.

Part of the reason for a lack of public pressure may be the effectiveness of Israel?s Iron Dome system, which has kept casualties very low despite a barrage of rockets from Gaza. See today's Monitor story on the Iron Dome system.?

?Hamas apparently has much greater capability than it had in the last war on Gaza,? says Galia Golan, a political scientist at the Interdisciplinary Center Herzliya, but notes that there hasn?t been a parallel uptick in Israeli casualties. ?Because Iron Dome has been relatively successful, there has been less pressure on the government or within the government to launch a ground attack.?

Only three Israelis, all from one building in Kiryat Malachi, have been killed in the recent escalation.

As the evening news shows a picture of a bombed out building, lifelong resident Masodi Sugaker says, ?It?s so sad to see this. To [have to] make everything new after this? Why? Because of Hamas.?

?Hamas exploits their own people, the Palestinians,? says she adds.

Her sister, Hanna Shukrun, adds, ?We don?t want [war],? because there are kids [in Gaza].

But she says, ?Israel can?t just sit here and do nothing?. Our army doesn?t need to wait until they have many weapons.?

(This story was edited after posting to correct the name of Galia Golan from IDC Herzliya. We apologize for the error).

In rare case, Beijing court sentences petitioner interceptors

BEIJING (Reuters) - A Beijing court has sentenced 10 people to up to 18 months in jail for illegally detaining petitioners from another city, state media reported on Sunday, in a rare case of the judiciary taking on the shadowy men who operate on the margins of the law.

Those convicted were hired by authorities from Changge city in central Henan province to stop petitioners airing their grievances in Beijing, the People's Daily said on its website, citing a Beijing newspaper.

They held them in rented houses in a Beijing suburb where the petitioners said they were beaten, the report said.

The men wore badges identifying them as employees of the Beijing representative office of the Changge government, it added.

Petitioning officials has deep roots in China, where courts are seen as beyond the reach of ordinary people, who often try to take local disputes ranging from land grabs to corruption to higher levels in the country's capital Beijing.

But studies show only small numbers are ever able to resolve their cases through petitioning.

In many cases, petitioners are rounded up in Beijing by men hired by provincial authorities to prevent the central government from learning of problems in China's outlying regions.

They are often forced home, or held in "black jails" in Beijing.

Despite international criticism, China has continued to run these so-called black jails - unlawful secret detention facilities used to hold critics and petitioners, where detainees are often subjected to beatings, sleep and food deprivation, as well as psychological abuse.
